Welcome to the Antigonish Heritage Site!
This site is dedicated to the promotion, protection, and preservation of the cultural heritage of the Town of Antigonish. Antigonish, located in Antigonish County in Nova Scotia, is a beautiful place that’s home to the prestigious St. Francis Xavier University, considered one of the best universities in Canada. It is also the venue for the Antigonish Highland Games. Started in 1863, the festival is the oldest running highland games in the world outside Scotland.
The Antigonish Heritage Site offers relevant information about the Antigonish Heritage Museum. Established in 1991, the community museum is set within the old CN Railway Station Building. It features exhibits showcasing the rich history and culture of Antigonish Town and County. The Antigonish Heritage Museum is operated by the Antigonish Heritage Museum Board.
The Antigonish Heritage Museum board is equally owned by the Town of Antigonish, the Municipality of Antigonish County, and the Heritage Association of Antigonish.
